We will be discussing program developments from the summer, program plans for the fall and winter, pending funding, and include a new agenda item based on the topics that you decide are important. (We will send information about this along with a full agenda next week!)
These meetings are important because it allows us not only to build stronger connections within our community, but also because there are only 4 times a year that the Alliance convenes as a whole to assess and to address community concerns.

September 24, 2010 - 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm"Salaam India" The North Shore Center for Performing Arts 9501 Skokie Boulevard Skokie, IL 60077 |
The Indo-American Heritage Museum, in association with Vachikam, presents SALAAM INDIA.
An English play, inspired by Pavan Varma's "Being Indian", SALAAM INDIA has received rave reviews, and filled theaters at many locations in India.
This will be the only Chicago date on its first U.S. tour, the play is directed by Lushin Dubey, with music composed by Louiz Banks. Different situational excerpts from the lives of sixteen characters bring about the contradictions of joy, humor, and hope. Concisely articulating the ethos of this production, Director Dubey notes: "Indians, a heterogeneous multifarious lot, are difficult to define, and now even more so since we are at that juncture in our history, where we are springing out of our past, into the modern global world." |
