what is activating heritage?
Activating Heritage is the Alliance’s annual professional development conference for cultural heritage and non-profit professionals. The conference connects our Core Members and other arts & culture workers from across the Chicago region with meaningful, hands-on, capacity-building experiences facilitated by a host of scholars and leaders in the field, through dynamic presentations, panels, and workshops.

who can attend the conference?
Anyone who works in museums, arts, culture, heritage or non-profit professions may find benefit from the sessions of the conference and from connecting with each other and the Members of the Chicago Cultural Alliance.
how much does it cost to attend?
– Core Members: $20
– Partner Members: $25
– Non-Members: $35
– Students: $12
Registration includes access to every session of the conference.
is the conference virtual or in-person?
In 2022, the plenary session and networking brunch will be held in-person on Monday, March 21 at DANK Haus German American Cultural Center. All other sessions from March 22-25 are virtual, available to join via Zoom or to watch via a livestream on our website.

We are an active consortium of over 40 cultural heritage museums, centers, and historical societies that span 30 neighborhoods and 9 suburbs in the Chicago area and represent over 30 different cultures from around the world.
