June 15, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

FREE
MALA presents a special presentation and discussion centering on the legacy of legendary dancer, teacher, producer, and choreographer Robert Joffrey, who was born Anver Bey Abdullah Jaffa Khan. Joffrey’s achievements and innovations in dance and education have helped to shape the landscape of arts in the U.S. and throughout the global community.
Join us on Wednesday, June 15th to learn more about Robert Joffrey’s life and legacy as we honor Pride Month and explore the influence of Muslim cultures and heritage in the arts. The program will feature a presentation on Robert Joffrey’s cultural and artistic background, with an emphasis on his contributions to the Chicago dance community, to be followed by a Q&A session.
*This program is made possible through the generous support of Illinois Humanities’ Activating History grant.
