In South Asian communities, mental health issues are often swept under the rug. Because it is culturally stigmatizing to talk about one’s feelings, some people are denied or have no access to mental health resources.
Numerous studies have shown that South Asian immigrants experience high rates of mental health problems, sometimes higher than their peers and the lack of access has serious consequences.
In an effort to break the taboo and start a healthy conversation about mental health among South Asian communities, South Asia Institute has organized “Community Insights: Awareness and Well-Being in the South Asian Community” on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Join us for this insightful event led by Rohit Agrawal, PsyD of Center Focused Therapy, where we will highlight the intersections of culture and well-being, and also address the stigma of mental health in South Asian families.
Community-based and personal resources will be provided to participants so that more members of the South Asian community can benefit.
