SRBCC presents {Tres}
{Trés} is a chamber music trio founded in 2010. It started as a collaborative project between José Antonio Zayas Cabán and Colin Young, with the purpose of performing transcriptions for 2 saxophones and piano. The trio has since performed chamber music by a wide range of composers in Central America, the Caribbean, and throughout the United States.
Recently, {Trés} finished a national tour titled A Tribute to Puerto Rico that was partly devoted to help raise funds and awareness about Puerto Rico and the island’s efforts to recover from Hurricanes Irma and María. This has now led to our 2019 project, our first annual multi-week residency in Puerto Rico.
As the recipient of the 2019 New Music USA Project Grant, José will is working with {Trés} on collaborations with composers such as MacArthur and Guggenheim Award recipient Miguel Zenón, Brooklyn-based Angelica Negrón, Illinois-based Carlos Carrillo, and Dublin, Ireland-based Amanda Feery, {Trés} will bring free concerts – that will include new music – to low income communities across the island.
