The National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture is excited to offer a youth painting workshop for only $10, thanks to the generous donations of visitors who help keep our Museum free and programming affordable to all.
Vanessa Sandoval is a contemporary artist and business owner of Namart Designs (website link). She was born and raised in Chicago and is an active artisan during our Barrio Arts Festival and NaviArts. Her primary focus is paying homage to her Puerto Rican roots by painting cultural and meditative art pieces. Vanessa has taught art classes throughout the City of Chicago and beyond.
In this painting workshop, 20 youth/teens (12-17) will learn about Vanessa’s passion for art and how she started her artisan business. She will spend most of her time teaching them how to use acrylic paints to make one-of-a-kind wooden coasters like the ones she sells on her website and during artisan fairs. We know students will leave inspired to create and, maybe, become small business owners!
