World Dumpling Fest celebrates diverse cultures throughout Chicago and the world with music, dance, and of course, dumplings! The Chicago Cultural Alliance is excited to host our fourth World Dumpling Fest at a brand-new venue.
This all-ages event features food, music, and local small businesses sharing their cultural identities through their respective crafts. World Dumpling Fest features diverse cultural “dumplings” from +10 neighborhood-based restaurants in and around Chicago.
World Dumpling Fest is a fundraiser held to support the work of the Chicago Cultural Alliance with the mission of supporting, promoting and advocating for over 40 centers of cultural heritage from around the Chicagoland area. We hope that you will take the time to learn more about the centers we represent, visit their centers, volunteer for them, and otherwise support their work!

Center of Peruvian Arts
The Center of Peruvian Arts promotes Indigenous Peruvian cultures through performances, educational programming and workshops.
Crossing Borders Music and the Cambodian American Heritage Museum
Crossing Borders Music and the Cambodian Traditional Music Ensemble of the National Cambodian Heritage Museum join forces for an amazing program featuring new fusion arrangements of Cambodian classics! The performance includes beautiful new arrangements made for the 2021 Cambodian Day of Remembrance.
APIDA Arts presents: “Ki”
Ki is 2/3 of the rock band Kim, Chicago’s first and only Asian American female power pop group. Longtime multi-dimensional artist and drummer Mia Park and singer-guitarist Janet Knowles have played music together for over 20 years. Playing original songs with crunchy guitar and harmonies, Ki reflects the power, confidence, and fun that Asian American women are made of.
Puerto Rican Arts Alliance presents: Latin Music Project
The Latin Music Project provides youth and children of color the opportunity to access affordable music classes and be trained to become the next generation of professional musicians for classical and other pop music orchestras.
Friends of the Gamelan
Friends of the Gamelan, affectionately known as FROG, traces its roots to the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, held in Chicago. In the late 1970s, a group began to meet regularly at the Field Museum to play on those very instruments. FROG formed in 1980 as a not-for-profit educational organization with the purpose of purchasing a Javanese gamelan for pedagogy and performance, to continue the work begun at the Field Museum.
Irish American Heritage Center
The Irish American Heritage Center’s (IAHC) mission is to cultivate the cultural bonds of the Irish and Irish Americans to Ireland through gatherings and festivals and by promoting cultural programming such as music and theater, literature, and language.
Korean Performing Arts Institute of Chicago
The Korean Performing Arts Institute of Chicago (KPAC) is a community-based cultural and educational organization. They will perform traditional Korean drumming and dance.
Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center presents: Los Pleneros de Don Segundo
One of Chicago’s most sought-after plena groups, Los Pleneros de Don Segundo shows unwavering commitment to the advancement of the genre with original compositions and arrangements.
South Side Community Art Center presents: Margaret Burroughs Collective
The Margaret Burroughs Collective, a remarkable interdisciplinary group led by the acclaimed composer, clarinetist, and performer, Angel Bat Dawid. Margaret Burroughs Collective present captivating performances that blend sound, text, and movement, inspired by Dr. Margaret Burroughs and the spirit of the South Side Community Art Center (SSCAC).
South Asia Institute presents: Do the Needful
Chicago’s own, Do The Needful interprets classic Bollywood anthems from the 60s and 70s through the prism of its myriad influences from retro spaghetti western music, to rock and roll, punk and jazz music and mold their collective vision into something entirely unique.

Kohl Children’s Museum Family Zone
(12:00 pm – 6:30 pm)
Movement Wands – These colorful dancing/ movement sticks are created using large craft sticks, streamers and colorful tape. Children can use them to as a movement prop to sway to the beat of music. This is a make and take activity
Imagination Playground – Children will design and build structures with jumbo blue blocks into vehicles, skyscrapers, or a little hideout.
Jumbo Connect Four- Childhood favorite game, get four in a row and you win!
Weaving Columns- Interactive and collaborative work of art that morphs over time as children and adults add colored ribbons and pipe cleaners to the structure.
Dumpling Pop Art! – Use dumplings as your inspiration to create art. Use wood-block printing stamps of dumplings to design a colorful pop-art print to take home. Children can block print with black or white ink and have other background shaped stamps to add other detail on colored paper.

The American Indian Center promotes fellowship among Indian people of all Tribes living in Chicago, creates understanding between Indians and non-Indians, and advances the general welfare of American Indians in metropolitan life.
APIDA Arts
APIDA Arts showcases the work of Asian, Pacific Island, and Desi/South Asian American artists at premier cultural institutions in Chicago, providing greater representation, equity, and opportunity. They envision a creative and imaginative APIDA arts community that is an integral presence in Chicago’s culture.
Abrahamic Center for Cultural Education
The Abrahamic Center for Cultural Education (ACCE) is an art gallery and resource center promoting the understanding of Islam and Muslims in the community. ACCE supplements school and university programs with training sessions, presentations, and other resources. Their two main services are educational presentations and visits to their exhibition space.
Cambodian American Heritage Museum
The Cambodian American Heritage Museum provides exhibitions and resources for individuals and groups to learn about Cambodian history and culture, as well as a peaceful site for survivors to unite and heal.
Crossing Borders Music
The mission of Crossing Borders Music is to use music to promote the dignity of people from all cultures. To this end, Crossing Borders Music produces moving music that tells compelling stories by composers from under-represented cultures – music that invites audiences to challenge assumptions and learn more. Crossing Borders Music also presents educational programs to foster young people’s awareness of the diversity and richness of cultures and their music.

The Peace School
The Peace School’s mission is to help people of all ages practice peace in everyday life. They are an independent, non-profit educational organization dedicated to building world peace, one person at a time. The Peace School founded Peace Day in Chicago in 1978, bringing communities and cultures together every September to celebrate peace,
unity and diversity.
Puerto Rican Arts Alliance
The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA) is dedicated to preserving Puerto Rican culture by maintaining our traditions, promoting our arts, providing educational opportunities in arts programming, and cultivating pride in our heritage for future generations.
Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center
The Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center’s (SRBCC) mission is to preserve and promote appreciation of the culture and arts of Puerto Rico, specifically its African heritage. Through our programs, we offer families opportunities in leadership, education, cultural awareness and creative expression.
South Asia Institute
South Asia Institute cultivates the art and culture of South Asia and its diaspora through curated exhibitions, innovative programs and educational initiatives. SAI collaborates locally and globally to engage diverse communities in enriching creative experiences, support artistic production by emerging and established artists and foster cultural appreciation for the South Asian diaspora.
T.G. Masaryk Czech School
The T. G. Masaryk Czech School provides Czech language classes and organizes exhibitions, concerts, literary workshops for both children and adults
Ukrainian National Museum
The primary mission of the Ukrainian National Museum of Chicago is to collect, preserve, develop, catalog and exhibit, as a resource for research, information and enjoyment, the documents artifacts, and records of the Ukrainian Immigration in America in general and Chicago in particular.

World Dumpling Fest will be located in Logan Square Park, (see the highlighted section of the map on the right).
By Bus: The nearest bus stop is Milwaukee & Logan Blvd, which is reachable by CTA Bus #56. Check for the CTA Bus Tracker to see up-to-date information.
By CTA: The park is a quick walk south from the Logan Square Station, a Blue Line stop.
VOLUNTEER WITH US
If you love food and celebrating culture, we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to help us run this amazing event, to help with gate staffing, ticketing, bar sales, and stage management. Volunteers will also be required to attend at least one orientation session.
